The 16th Annual Miss Asian America Pageant, held on Saturday, August 11, 2001, at the esteemed Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, celebrated a diverse array of talents, grace, and cultural heritage. Amongst the distinguished 17 delegates, Caroline Nguyen, 21, from Berkeley, CA, of Vietnamese descent, emerged as the newly crowned Miss Asian America, embodying the values of leadership, poise, and cultural pride.

The event also celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of other remarkable contestants. Jamie Choi from New York, NY, was named Miss Asian First Princess, while Wilma Morales from Rowland Heights, CA, claimed the titles of Miss Asian Second Princess and Miss Asian California. Meeyoung Kim, a resident of Lawrenceville, GA, secured the titles of Miss Asian Third Princess and Miss Talent, exhibiting exceptional skills and artistry. Connie Lung of Charlottesville, VA was honored as Miss Community Service. Additionally, Miss Congeniality and Miss Scholastic Achievement titles were bestowed upon Nicha Kittitanaphan from Alameda, CA, a Thai-American delegate who garnered the admiration and respect of her fellow contestants.

The Miss Asian America Pageant remains dedicated to promoting cultural awareness, personal development, and community service among young Asian-American women. The pageant, a testament to the rich tapestry of Asian heritage, showcased contestants from various ethnic backgrounds.
